Section 3 companies are businesses that are majority owned by low-income people or that employ substantial numbers of low-income people. They are entitled to a qualified contracting preference on HUD-funded development projects and on all public housing authority contracts. The following is a partial list of the kinds of businesses that might benefit from Section 3 certification:

  • Construction trades
  • Construction-related suppliers
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping
  • Architectural/Engineering
  • Catering
  • Cleaning
  • Insurance
  • Landscaping
  • Printing
  • Security
  • Trucking/Hauling

Since being certified as a Section 3 Business Enterprise I received contracts almost right away. I am also blessed with larger contracts. Thank you for all your help."
